Sadhana means 'leading straight to the goal' and this is very much the flavour of the retreat, which is open to all dharmacharis, regardless of which sadhana you practice. The retreat will include opportunities for exploring one's personal practice of sadhana, pithy general teaching on sadhana and plenty of time for meditation and silence. We will be practicing sadhana in the context of the system of meditation; first establishing the ground of awareness and positive emotion and then entering more deeply into spiritual death and rebirth.

This retreat will focus on the transforming power of the Bodhicitta, taking as our lead Shantideva's famous description of the Bodhicitta as a precious and lively quicksilver elixir that has the power to transform us into an image of the Buddha himself.

The retreat will consist of meditations, incorporating our system of spiritual practice, as well as practices focussing on the Bodhicitta. There will also be study sessions, pujas and time to relax with one another in the summer at Padmaloka.
