Samudradaka gives the teachings

We hope you like our web site and find it easy to use. If there’s any problems with it that you come across please let us know. We hope the new on-line booking system will help getting on retreat be smooth and friendly. One other change is a move towards asking for full payment to be made two weeks prior to your retreat. This helps our admin side of things run smoother and does away with a lengthy check-in-desk! We are using paypal for online payments because they offer a low rate to charities, enables you to create a paypal account, and you don’t have to re-enter your details each time you book.

Many thanks to Samudradaka for helping design and build it all in such a short space of time.

Fire Alarm!

Soon to be completed is a fire alarm and safety lighting system. It is an integrated system controlled by a panel at the front of the house.

Each corridor will have a call- point from which to raise the fire alarm- rather than pressing the button outside the office window!

This project has been years in the making: We had strong recommendations raised in 2001 that we acted on. Being Fire Marshal at that time prompted me to simplify out smoke detector and emergency lighting system. In 2007 a proposal was taken to the Padmaloka council and given the go-ahead. We have had work done in three phases: first the main house, secondly from the kitchen down to the end of the support team accommodation, and third and lastly we are about to have the rose-alley buildings, shrine, stupa court yard and dining room covered. So we can all sleep even sounder now- unless the sounder goes off above your head…

2010 Filo fax download.

We’ve always found the filo fax format handy to plan our years with so we asked Manjupriya again to produce the 2010 version. If you would like a copy you can download it in two halves here- from Jan to June and July to Dec.

There are some retreats external to Padmaloka on this calendar that the Padmaloka community has an involvement with throughout the year.

(Note: the Anapanasati retreat start date Thursday 1st is correct on this filofax and incorrect on the paper programme which reads Fri 1st).
