Samudradaka

Samudradaka

I have been living at Padmaloka since June 2003. For the first 3 years I workes as the secretary for the Ordination Team along with PA work for Surata and Padmavajra. Then in August 2006 I took over as the chairman of Padmaloka from Padmadaka.

Previously I lived in Leeds for 17 years where I had gone to study Psychology. While I was there I got interested in meditation, Buddhism and the FWBO in the early 90’s and in 2001 was ordained into the Western Buddhist Order. My name means the "the sky-walker of the ocean".

Padmaloka is a great place to live at being out in the wilds of Norfolk but with easy access to Norwich or to the endless windswept beaches for walking. It’s a very lively place to live at with 12 of us living here together plus many people coming on retreat or as guests. It’s not a place to live if you want to lead a solitary existence! One of the main reasons I moved here was to try and be more extrovert as I tend to find it easy to be in my own company. Padmaloka also provides a very good captive audience for my own particular brand of humour.

Recently I went on a walking trip with Samanartha in the Ordesa National Park in the Spanish Pyrenees and a road trip in the US including a visit to the Spiral Jetty. For photos and info about these trips click here.
