Each retreat listed on this site has a retreat type assigned to it. These indicate who the retreat is open to. See below for a detailed list of each type.

Introductory / Open - These retreats are open to everyone regardless of experience. See our page listing retreats recommended for beginners to meditation, buddhism and yoga.

Regular Meditation - These retreats are open to people who have a regular meditation practice and who have some experience of being on a retreat.

Open to the following types: Regular Meditation | FWBO Regular | FWBO Mitra | Going For Refuge | Order Member

FWBO Regular - These retreats are open to people who have a regular meditaiton practice as taught by the FWBO and are familiar with the seven fold puja.

FWBO Mitra - These retreats are open to FWBO Mitras - people who have made a commitment to the FWBO through taking part in a FWBO Mitra Ceremony.

Going For Refuge - These retreats are open to people who have requested to be ordained into the Western Buddhist Order (WBO), the central purpose of which is dedicating their life to the act of Going For Refuge to the Buddha, the Dharma (his teachings), and the Sangha (or spiritual community).

Order Member - These retreats are open to those who have been ordained into the Western Buddhist Order (WBO).
