'Very few people know the real meaning of friendship. More often than not, there is to much emphasis on sentiment, and too little on action. Metta is something that must be lived.'
One of the most important practices in our Order, is that of spiritual friendship. The Order is, in fact, a network of spiritual friendships. A key part of your training will involve the cultivation of such qualities as friendliness, generosity, patience, forgiveness, kindness, empathy and so on. It will also involve getting to know others in the Sangha in different contexts. In time, you will develop strong and close bonds of friendship with others in our community. Such friendships are not only of great personal value; they are also what form the life of the Order. Friendship and community are an important source of spiritual support and inspiration. They are also the best context in which to study and practice.
The retreat starts with dinner on the first day at 6:30pm and finishes on the final day at about 10.00am.
