With the Anapanasati meditation retreat we continue our training in ‘breathing with mindfulness’ according to the Anapanasati Sutta from the Majjhima Nikaya of the Pali Canon, the Buddha's principal discourse on mindfulness meditation.
We also undertake a detailed exploration of the significance and practice of mindfulness meditation particularly in relation to the satipatṭhanas, the four foundations of mindfulness.
The Buddha says of this training:
‘Monks, this is the direct path for the purification of beings, for the
surmounting of sorrow and lamentation, for the disappearance of dukkha
and discontent, for the acquiring the true method, for the realisation
of nibbāna, namely these four foundations of mindfulness.’
The retreat starts with dinner on the first day at 6:30pm and finishes on the final day at 10.00am.
