May all beings possess happiness with its causes,
be parted from all grief, with its causes,
not become parted from the happiness wherein no grief is,
and dwell in the condition of equanimity.
The Door to Inconceivable Wisdom and Compassion
This is the profound heart wish of the four Brahmaviharas – loving kindness, compassion, altruistic joy and equanimity – a set of meditation practices that have the power to utterly transform our emotional lives and relations to others. They are the basis for the development of Insight and the Bodhicitta and yet begin with ordinary acts of kindness and helpfulness. As well as being called the ‘sublime abodes’, they are also called the 'four illimitables' because there is no limit to their development.
Please contact the Guest Master (info@padmaloka.org.uk) if you haven’t been on an intensive meditation retreat before.
