'We don't have a detailed blueprint of a new world; we have something that is perhaps even better –the living, growing seed of a new world.'
A Blueprint for a New World, Sangharakshita
For half a century, thousands of men have come through Padmaloka; practising and worshipping together, talking the Dharma, and developing intimate connections with each other. Padmaloka has been a crucible of transformation and a realm of friendship for many.
This retreat is an opportunity to celebrate an emerging vision of Sangha, to hear the challenges overcome in creating the Padmaloka we know, to glimpse what may lie ahead, and to dwell on the great truths that inspire its continual renewal.
We’ll hear talks by Prajnamanas, Lokesvara, Sona and Suvajra on the theme of ‘Buddhism for Today and Tomorrow’, all who’ve lived at or are living at Padmaloka, as well as input from Padmavajra and others.
We’ll also be doing a series of special rituals for Padmaloka’s abundance and vitality.
Join us on this unique event to celebrate the Lotus Realm.

Coming on a retreat at Padmaloka is a step into another way of being, where we temporarily take up a way of life that is more supportive of Buddhist Practice. We go forth from our ordinary circumstances, our comforts and distractions so that we can discern and move towards our ideals and help others to do so as well. When booking a retreat at Padmaloka it is important to get a sense of how you will be living here - what our customs, etiquettes and requirements for being on retreat are.
