Padmasambhava Retreat

On this Order retreat for the followers of Guru Rinpoche, Padmasambhava, we will dwell in the world of the Padmasambhava sadhana, in order to follow the Precious Guru and open to his approaches. We will do our very best to be filled with the inspiration of Mikyo Dorje, Karmapa VIII:

‘When the Precious Guru approaches

The whole of space is filled by a rainbow and rays of light.

He sends out his emanations as messengers

And a roaring flame of blessings shoots into the sky,

Various meditation experiences and flashes of instantaneous insight occur.

Oh, the Great Guru!

I follow your example; please approach and grant your blessings.

Bless this place!

Give us the four Abhishekhas

And clear all obstacles.

Grant us ultimate and relative siddhis.’

Mikyo Dorje Karmapa VIII

Coming on retreat

Coming on a retreat at Padmaloka is a step into another way of being, where we temporarily take up a way of life that is more supportive of Buddhist Practice. We go forth from our ordinary circumstances, our comforts and distractions so that we can discern and move towards our ideals and help others to do so as well. When booking a retreat at Padmaloka it is important to get a sense of how you will be living here - what our customs, etiquettes and requirements for being on retreat are.
